Letter from Lisa...

As we enter into the 13th season of local productions of The Nutcracker, LynnTerra Ballet Company would like to thank the Auburn, Opelika and surrounding dance communities for their support. The Auburn Arts Association (AAA) helped pave the way to bring the joy of dancing to East Alabama and initially helped promote The Nutcracker in our area. For several years, the AAA has allowed LynnTerra Ballet Company to use its Nutcracker logo to annually promote the ballet in December. We’re very appreciative of their generosity, however, LynnTerra Ballet is excited to announce plans for a logo that will be unique to LynnTerra Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. There are new images in the works and the designer and image will be posted as soon as the process is complete. Thank you for visiting our website and please come back often for updates to keep you informed about dance in the area.

LynnTerra Ballet Company

is a unique service-oriented youth ballet company serving the greater East Alabama community.   We have performed the Nutcracker annually since 1995, first as “Auburn Community Ballet” and then later as “Auburn Ballet.” In 2005, the performing company became known as “LynnTerra Ballet.”

nutcracker The performing company name honors Lynn Curtis (1926-1997) and Terra Ann Johnsey (1951-2002), both of Auburn, AL.  These remarkable dance professionals were instrumental in bringing the art of ballet and the joy of dance to East Alabama.  Many of their former students are now professionals in the dance industry.  Thanks to Mr. “C” (who produced his own Nutcracker Ballet from 1977-1984) and Ms. Johnsey, several generations of dancers have experienced the magic and wonder that brings dance to life.  LynnTerra Ballet invites the community to join them as they continue this legacy for generations to come.

We are very excited to announce that LynnTerra Ballet merged with Alabama Dance Company East in 2006 to form one united, community company. Auditions for company dancers, ages 11-17, are held in the fall of each year, coinciding with auditions for “The Nutcracker”.
